Reading complete deal for striker

Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has been granted a work permit and therefore completes his move to Premier League new boys Reading.

The 28-year old was granted his work permit yesterday after a hearing in London, despite a medical and personal terms all agreed last week. Pogrebnyak arrives at the Madejski Stadium on a four-year deal, which is believed to be worth around £6 million, after his contract at Stuttgart expired.

Premier League side Fulham and several other European sides were keen on Pavel's signature, but chose to join the Royals. Owner Anton Zingarevich met with the forward at Russia's Euro 2012 training camp in Poland, persuading him to move to Berkshire. The former Spartak striker scored six goals in 12 games for Fulham.

This is no doubt a massive coup for Brian McDermott and Nicky Hammond, who both promised Royals fans big name signings in this window. However, do Reading need to add another striker to their squad? Are the likes of Hunt, Roberts, Church and Le Fondre capable of matching it in the Premier League?
