Karacan in contract dispute?
Reading midfielder Jem Karacan is stalling over a new contract due to wages of other players, according to the Daily Star.
The Turkish midfielder has been reportedly offered a deal, which is largely below the wage bracket of new signings Danny Guthrie and Pavel Pogrebnyak, who are reportedly earning around £30,000-a-week. Karacan`s current contract is set to run out at the end of this season and Director of Football Nicky Hammond is key to tie down one of their most prized assets.
The stalling of contract talks has prompted strong interest in the 22-year old, mainly from the Premier League. Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham could be ready to pounce on the former Turkey U21 international, with Turkey another possible destination. Karacan has openly admitted he would love to play in Turkey at some point in his career, with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce two of the interested parties.
