'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Owner highlights fans importance

Reading owner Anton Zingarevich has called on Royals fans to get behind the team in their upcoming Premier League campaign, saying it can make all the difference.

Since completing the purchase of the club back in May, the Russian tycoon has shown his commitment and opened his chequebook for Reading boss Brian McDermott. He has forked out 5 million for the services of Chris Gunter and Adrian Mariappa, while playing an integral part in bringing Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak to the club.

Speaking to the official Reading FC website, Zingarevich said: 'It is at home so hopefully our fans will help us as well. Every game is going to be really difficult in this division but we are quite confident after what we managed to achieved at the end of last season. We have added to our group so hopefully it will be a good season for us.'

'Really, we will just continue to look towards the next game and try to win every game like we have done before and I am sure that will do us good. We are all really looking forward to the whole season but of course we are concentrating on the first game.'
