Reading managed Brian McDermott has admitted there were elements of his teams performance that concerned him in their win over Peterborough, but it happy to progress in the cup.
The Capital One Second Round match endured a crazy opening, which witnessed four goals in a ten minute period. Paul Taylor gave Posh the lead with a 20-yard strike, before Pavel Pogrebnyak equalised minutes later. Lee Tomlin reinstated the Championship side's lead, before Chris Gunter scored his first goal for the Royals and an own goal from Knight-Percival on 38 minutes secured their place in the next round.
Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, McDermott said: 'I could sense in the dressing room afterwards that the lads weren't overly happy with the 'you have a go, we have a go' situation. Having said that we hit the post three times, they also could have scored more and it's something we will address. Give Peterborough credit, they have good players but we are through.'
'They're a side who have given us problems in the past and for 20 minutes it was kamikaze, I thought it was going to end up 5-5! We played some really good stuff with the ball, but without the ball we weren't quite at the level we normally are. Their system suits the way they play and they caused us a few problems. There wasn't a massive crowd but that's no excuse, shape-wise we were better second half, but the most important thing is that we are through.'
