International round-up - Part 1

A round up of all Reading players representing their country around the globe......

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Central defender Adrian Mariappa made just his fifth cap for Jamaica on Friday, as they overcame an early Clint Dempsey goal to beat the USA 2-1. The two sides will once again face off on Tuesday, but the American's will be on their home turf.

The Reading Welsh contingent all played a part in Wales' 2-0 loss to Belgium on Friday night. Defender Chris Gunter and striker Simon Church both started in the World Cup qualifier, with Church very unlucky not to win a penalty, being bundled over by Vincent Kompany. Forward Hal Robson-Kanu replaced Church with 20 minutes to go.

As usual, central defender Kaspars Gorkss captained his native side Latvia, but could not get a result against former European Champions Greece as they lost 2-1 in Riga. Young defender Pierce Sweeney was also in Latvia with the Republic of Ireland U19s, but they could only draw 1-1 with the home side.
