Striker fighting to return to full fitness

Reading striker Jason Roberts is desperate to return to full fitness, so much that he has now started using 'pilates' to speed up his recovery.

The 34-year old has still not made an appearance for the Royals this season due to the calf problem picked up in pre-season. Roberts has now started using 'pilates' in an attempt to speed up his recovery, which is a series of stretches and exercises to improve flexibility and posture. However, the former Blackburn forward cannot put a solid date on his return.

Speaking to Jonny Fordham of the Reading Post, Roberts said: "I`m doing all sorts of stuff. Pilates, core work, everything. I`ve been doing loads. My recovery from the injury has been slower than I would have liked. But when you`re injured it can give you the opportunity to improve on other things too.'

'I`ve been working on other correctional things in my body to come back in the best possible shape. I need to make sure when I come back that I`m not coming off with the same issue again. I haven`t had a calf problem before, but luckily I haven`t missed many games. I`m a really bad injured player because I just have no patience."
