Doyle to start for ROI

Reading striker Kevin Doyle is set to win his first competitive cap for the Republic of Ireland in their Euro 2008 qualifier against Germany.

Doyle, who has been tipped as a key player in Ireland's future by manager Steve Staunton, is going to partner captain Robbie Keane in attack in Saturday's game.

His appearance will also signal a significant windfall for his father, Paddy, who is going to net £10,000 after placing a bet on Doyle representing Ireland in a competitive game.
The bet was placed while Doyle was still at Eircom League side Cork City.

The Royals ace has previously made three friendly appearances for his countr.y

Impressed me with his game so far hopefully he'll continue to progress. What a buy from Coppell for you he was!
