The former Newcastle midfielder has had a very mixed time so far at the Madejski Stadium since joining for a free transfer in the summer. Despite a good start in a Royals shirt, he has been dropped to the bench for the previous two games.

- Along with Adam Le Fondre, Guthrie is the only Reading player to have completed over 80% of his passes. He has attempted 163, the most in the Reading team, completing an impressive 131 of them.
- 63 of those passes came in the final third, completing 40 of them, nearly 70% of them. Despite completing 42 of his 47 passes against West Brom last month, he has not placed since that game.
- The former Liverpool midfielder has also created the most chances for the Royals, making 4 opportunities for his team. However, none of his team mates took these chances, leaving Guthrie with no assists.
- Guthrie has only gone in for 4 tackles in his Reading career, but has done surprisingly well by winning 3 of those challenges.
- The 25-year old has only attempted 2 shots so far under Brian McDermott, with both of them coming from set pieces. However, one of those efforts resulted in a goal at Chelsea, albeit with a helping hand from Petr Cech.
