Morrison doubtful for Sunderland trip
Reading are set to be without central defender Sean Morrison for Tuesday night's trip to Sunderland.
The 21-year old was brought off against Southampton on Saturday with an ankle injury and left St. Mary's on crutches, meaning he is highly doubtful for Tuesday's crucial encounter with Sunderland. He is likely to be replaced with Kaspars Gorkss, with Alex Pearce still in contract discussions with the club over a new deal.
Fellow defender Chris Gunter has missed the previous three games with a hamstring injury sustained against Wigan last month, while goalkeeper Alex McCarthy remains a long-term injury after successful shoulder surgery. Jimmy Kebe, Jem Karacan and Pavel Pogrebnyak could be involved in Tuesday nights match at the Stadium of Light.
It's a shame that Morrison is out injured, as he has been a crucial player in defence and also from set pieces. As much as I would much prefer Pearce to come into the side, Gorkss is likely to take his place. I'm also hoping Danny Guthrie will play some part against Sunderland too, after recovering from injury.
