Reading duo Danny Guthrie and Jem Karacan could play a part in Saturday's encounter with Man City, after both played in the 3-0 victory over Bournemouth.
Chris Cummins was fortunate to name a very strong side, which included the likes of Garath McCleary, Alex Pearce, Ian Harte and Chris Gunter. However, the main spot light was on the midfield duo of Jem Karacan, who has just returned from an ankle injury and Danny Guthre, whose future has been called into question recently, after refusing to play against Sunderland.
It was the Turkish international that also opened the scoring on the South-coast, as he slotted home from Dominic Samuel's square ball. The lead was doubled into the second period as the ever-impressive Samuel cooly scored a penalty and he added a third soon after, as a neat move was finished off by the England under 19 international with an assured finish.
Jem managed to get over an hour under his belt, while Danny got the full 90 minutes. Royals boss Brian McDermott said he was going to be used as a substitute against Arsenal on Monday, but instead recommended him to play in this game. However, having come through the full match unscathed, there is a chance he could start against City on Saturday in a five-man midfield.
