A Minute for Armstrong

Reading and Sheffield will have a minute of appreciation for their former Chris Armstrong, who sadly had to retire back in 2011, due to Multiple Sclerosis.

Both of Chris' former sides are to compete at the Madejski Stadium tomorrow in the fourth round of the FA Cup, but unfortunately Chris himself cannot make it due to commitments for his daughter. As the game approaches the third minute, the crowd inside the Mad Stad will be encouraged to sing the name of the brave left-back.

The former Bury defender was diagnosed with the condition back in December 2009, but bravely decided to carry on playing for another year, before announcing his retirement in March 2011. Chris's former team mates have described him as a great guy, who deserves to be recoginsed for his achievements and bravery.

Armstrong was highly regarded at both clubs. At Sheffield United, he made 95 appearances and achieved promotion to the Premier League in 2006, alongside the Royals. He moved to Reading in the summer of 2008 and won the player of the season award for that campaign, with an incredible 80% of the fans' votes.
