Reading goalkeeper Mikkel Andersen has claimed that he is being forced to stay at the club, beyond his personal will.
The 24-year old has had seven loan spells away during his seven-year tenure with the Royals, but is yet to make an appearance for the first team. Andersen was the subject of high interest after some good performances on the under 21 international stage, but the goalkeeper has claimed Reading are blocking any move away for him.
Speaking to Danish sports website Sporten.dk, Andersen said: 'It's really frustrating. After long talks with the manager Brian McDermott and director of football Nick Hammond, they've decided to block any moves for me. So, you could say that I'm forced to put my own ambitions on hold to cater for Reading's needs.'
'I've had offers from Denmark, which would have been nice as it would have given me a platform to show that I have what it takes. I had an offer from Trabzonspor, which would have been interesting as they are a huge club playing in Europe. I've always been happy at Reading as they have ensured that my development has been good but I want to play now.'
I would not begrudge Mikkel having his move away, as he is at the age of 24 and with the likes of Federici and McCarthy still in front of him, he won't be appearing in the side anytime soon. McDermott probably wants to keep him here until McCarthy is back to full fitness, but loaning the Danish keeper out for the time being would do no harm.
