'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Brian delighted with memorable point

Reading manager Brian McDermott has branded his teams draw with Chelsea as one of his best results as manager.

The Royals found themselves one down at the break, after Juan Mata's clinical finish in first half injury time. However, despite Frank Lampard doubling the score, Reading came back. Superb sub Adam Le Fondre got one back on 87 minutes, before scoring an astonishing equaliser into the fifth minute of injury time.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, McDermott said: 'If you've got Adam Le Fondre in your squad that can happen. It was a masterclass of finishing. Every single player played their part and that is exactly why we always talk about the group. Not too many on that pitch would have finished that, I tell you, a ridiculous finish.'

'You can always make a difference from the side. This is the Champions of Europe, they've got Lampard, Mata, John Terry on the bench, an absolute fortune. But when we scored one we had a major chance. The roof came off the place - I just hope nobody left early! That is right up there with any of the wins we've had.'
