Sheppard frustrated with life at Reading

On-loan Shamrock Rovers striker Karl Sheppard has revealed he is becoming frustrated with life at Reading, but admits injury hasn't helped his tenure.

The 21-year old rejoined his former club on loan last month until the end of the season, after failing to make a single appearance for the Royals. Sheppard signed from the Irish side last year on a free transfer, but injury affected his playing time in Berkshire, but did have a loan spell at Accrington Stanley earlier this season.

Speaking to Irish Sports website extratime.ie, Sheppard said: "I`m happy to be back, it`s nice to feel wanted again and to be part of a team, I was frustrated the last six months. I just want to pick up were I left off with Rovers and start enjoying my football again.'

'Getting back into the team will have to be my first aim though. When I went over to Reading I was a bit unlucky. I had a long season with Rovers and then picked up an injury that left me out for six months. I was getting a bit homesick watching the games, it was a strange one because I enjoyed watching the games but it made me homesick."

I think Karl was overhyped a little when he came here, especially after a decent scoring record in the Europa League qualifiers. Some of our fans expect all of our Irish prospects to turn out like Kevin Doyle and Shane Long, but unfortunately, I doubt we will see anything like that again anything time soon. Anyone remember Dave Mooney?
