Former Royal on trial at Championship club

Former Reading striker Mathieu Manset has joined Sheffield Wednesday on a trial period.

The 23-year old was released by FC Sion in January after his contract was terminated for personal reasons, after only signing for the Swiss side in July from Reading. Manset also had a trial period at fellow Championship side Barnsley, but proved unsuccessful.

Manset signed for Reading from Hereford in January 2011 for a fee around 300,000, scoring five goals in 29 appearances. Getting promoted and the signing of Jason Roberts did not help Manset's career here, but he did chip in with some crucial goals in the 2010/11 season.
