'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jem: I went a bit mental!

Royals midfielder has spoken about his delight of scoring his first Premier League goal.

The 24-year old scored the fourth and final goal in the 4-2 victory over Fulham on Saturday, which was his first goal of the season. Karacan had a superb game at Craven Cottage, completing the most passes out of any Reading player and even had the opportunity of wearing the captain's armband when Jobi McAnuff was substituted.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Jem said: 'It means so much to me to get a goal in the Premier League! Growing up as a kid a goal in the Prem was a dream come true, so it's nice that my family were here. Sadly not my Dad who has gone back to Turkey, but I'll give him a call and tell him that I scored for him.'

'As a team we're delighted, confidence wise we've proved there that we can compete with teams in the Premier League, we've done it today and it's a great win. The gaffer has come in and he's given us a bit of a license to go and play our stuff.'

There has been a lot of talk this season about Jem leaving for Turkey, but his reaction to the goal proved that he could still want a long-term future here. He also spoke very highly about having the chance to wear the armband, he is definitely a candidate if Jobi departs in the summer.
