Crosby looking for Royals promotion

Reading assistant manager Andy Crosby has said promotion is the main objective for this season and has sung the praises of his boss Nigel Adkins.

The former Scunthorpe defender has worked under Adkins for nearly five years, after following him to Southampton from Scunny. The pair have achieved three promotions together in five seasons and have said that gaining promotion back to the Premier League is the main aim for the upcoming season.

Quoted by the Official Reading FC website, Crosby said: 'He`s a top bloke, he really is a good bloke. And I think he could go and manage any group of people in any given environment. I think he`s got that knack of getting the best out of people, as his record shows. He`s made me a lot calmer, a lot more logical in my thinking.'

'I think the ultimate aim, obviously, is to bounce straight back. And that`s the only message we`ll be sending out to the players, to the supporters, to everyone connected with Reading. It`s about developing a philosophy and we`ve had this past eight weeks to start doing things. Pre-season will be tough for the players, but enjoyable.'
