Drenthe deal completed

Although it has not been officially confirmed by the club, Royston Drenthe has become a Reading player today.

The 26-year old has been pictured at the Madejski Stadium in the Reading training kit and has signed a three-year contract, after joining on a free from Russian side Alania. The imminent trasnfer had been delayed in recent days, but were only minor details on the contract.

Some believe that the reasoning on the club's silence is another signing coming through the door, but if true, the player's identity is unknown. Drenthe will join up with his Royals teammates next week, when pre-season training begins under Nigel Adkins.

It's good that the deal has finally been done to wipe out any doubt that the deal wasn't going to go through. The former Real Madrid star seems very excited to make the move to Berkshire, despite making a surprise drop down to the Championship.

Player quotes will probably follow here tomorrow.....
