Adkins: We believe we can get promotion

Nigel Adkins has once again maintained that Reading will be fighting for promotion this season - I wouldn't expect any less with the early signings of Drenthe and Bridge!

The former Southampton boss has already snapped up the left-sided duo of Wayne Bridge and Royston Drenthe, and owner Anton Zingarevich has hinted that more big signings could be Reading-bound. The Royals are one of the favourites for promotion are making great early strides in the transfer market.

Quoted by the Official Reading FC website, Adkins said: "It`s going to be exciting for everybody. We need to score a lot of goals, keep a lot of clean sheets and win a lot of games. It`ll be a challenging campaign but myself, Andy Crosby and the players know what is needed. I believe we`ll have the mentality to cope with it.'

'If we win games we won`t get too high, and maybe if we have a blip during the course of the season we won`t get too low, because we believe in the principles we have and the standards we`ve got. We believe we`ve got a good chance of winning games and getting promoted again.'
