Former Royals set for the Championship

A number of previous and recent Reading players could be returning to the Madejski Stadium next season.

The surprise of the lot appears to be that former striker Mathieu Manset, nicknamed the Beast by Royals fans, could be on the verge of joining Wigan. The 23-year old joined FC Sion upon leaving Reading, but after his spell in Switzerland proved unsuccessful, returned to England to join Carlisle United.

Former Republic of Ireland international Ian Harte was released by the Royals this month, but could be offered a route to stay in the game, with recently promoted Bournemouth. Some websites have been linking the set-piece specialist with a move to Dean Court today.

One that has been on the cards for a while is Noel Hunt to Leeds, linking up with former manager Brian McDermott. It is reported there is interest, but nothing concrete has been agreed. There is also a chance he could be joined by his brother Stephen Hunt and former captain Matt Mills - the grass isn't always greener on the other side!
