'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Poll result: Most fans split on CB partnership

Vital Reading asked Royals fans who they would like to see in the centre of the defence for the upcoming season, in this week's weekly poll and here are the results.

Pearce and Mariappa 44%
Pearce and Morrison 9%
Morrison and Mariappa 47%

It appears that the fans are agreed that Adrian Mariappa should be in the heart of the defence, but it's his partner that has created a division. A small majority would prefer Adkins' favoured partnership from the end of last season, which was Morrison and Mariappa.

Alex Pearce signing a new deal has created a dilemma for the Royals boss, but certainly a good one to have. I think Morrison is better suited to Adkins' philosophy of football, but Pearcey is much more consistent. Still, it's great to have three top defenders to choose from!
