'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Adkins: Drenthe is a lively character!

To call Royston Drenthe a 'lively character' is an understatement, but Nigel Adkins appears happy with his big name signing.

The 26-year old completed his surprise move to the Madejski Stadium last month on a free transfer, with many shocked the Dutch international made the drop down to the Championship. Some have questioned Drenthe's off-the-field antics, but Adkins is confident he fits in with his philosophy.

Speaking to the Reading Chronicle, Adkins said: 'What he's got to do is buy into the team philosophy that we've got here and the ethos of hard work. If we can get him in the right positions on the field of play you can see he can cause the opposition all sorts of problems.'

'He's settled in nicely. He came away with us to the training camp last week so the players get in the right mindset. He's got to know them quickly so from that point of view it's been really beneficial. He's a lively character but that's good isn't it?'

I hope so Nigel!
