DC United Make Light of Link To Adu

DC United, the MLS club whom Freddy Adu plays for have insisted the teenager is not heading across the pond to newly promoted Reading.

Speculation in tabloid papers suggested that the Ghanaian born US international would join the Royals on loan in the January transfer window with a view to make the deal permanent the following summer.

However a spokesman for DC United told the BBC: 'We expect Freddy to be in our uniform for the foreseeable future.

'He is the focal point of the team and a very popular figure at the club.'

'DC United have always been a big draw and Adu is also a big draw,'

'We are pleased with the way he has developed.'

Adu is a huge American soccer success story, the midfielder is only 17years old and has already been capped internationally - the youngest in any sport in American history.

Adu`s agent has also linked him with Chelsea and Manchester United in the past.

I'm pretty sure he is a striker. Never the less, it would be a huge signing for you.

that would add a massive about of class to a team I already think will survive pretty easily this season , well done so far !
dazednconfuzed
He would be great in your team
Tigerphil
he plays attacking midfielder and is a huge talent, Man U and Chelsea watch him all the time
lmatthews
you are doing very well so far, is it Chelsea next?

this guy is a farce he entered into the USA from Africa no one knows how old he really is.. This just another one of those Yanky tales.. Anyone that touches him will regret it
cusop
I think he is a decent player watched him a couple of times. I think he is about 16-17 now aint he?

It would be brilliant to see Freddy Adu, play in the premiership. Maybe not for Reading. He would be much better suited to Fulham.

Can't see this happening, just gutter press speculation to sell newspapers, not being rude but the agents will make sure he goes to Chelski or Man U, Chelski will buy him so that no one else can use him and he will rot in the reserves...

Guys, think it's great how well you're doing. Impressed when you came down the Villa n played footy unlike Watford n Sheff U who will go down. You will need to push on unlike Wigan who are now struggling a bit after last year. Adu was a precocious talent but not sure now. If he was any good unfortunately Chelski would buy him. Are you dissapointed about Sidwell who may interest us?
