Royals boss responds to Jerome speculation

Cameron Jerome was linked with a move to Reading last week, but Nigel Adkins edged away from the speculation.

Some media outlets reported that the Stoke striker would be subject of a bid from the Championship side this week, with a figure of 3 million mentioned. When questioned about Jerome, Adkins did not answer the question directly, instead reiterating he wants to bring in more players before the window shuts in two weeks time.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Adkins said: 'There's going to be lots of speculation, every manager wants to strengthen their group. There's two and a bit weeks until the window, we scored three today and if we hadn't scored three you'd be asking more questions about strikers! We're working hard behind the scenes.'

I don't think you can look too far into Adkins not denying any move for the striker, he is keeping his cards close to his chest and rightfully so. I'm confident we will sign a striker or two before the deadline passes and I would be happy if one of those strikers was Jerome - he has good experience at this level, despite his goal record.
