Guthrie nominated for award

Reading's in-form Danny Guthrie has been nominated for Championship player of the month.

The former Newcastle player scored a brace in our 2-0 win over Birmingham last week and has been a consistent and leading figure in the centre of midfield. The other contenders for the award are Robert Green, David McGoldrick and Jason Shackell.

The winner of the award will be announced later today. Despite the Royals picking up ten points out of a possible twelve, manager Nigel Adkins wasn't nominated for the manager accolade. Nigel Pearson, Gianfranco Zola, Steve Lomas and Sean Dyche were chosen instead.
