'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Gunners tracking Royals star

There only seems to be one of our players being linked with Premier League clubs at the moment - no prizes for guessing it's Alex McCarthy.

The Royals shot stopper has been in superb form this campaign and it would be fair to say that if it wasn't for the young keeper, we could have been in a lower position in the table. Newcastle and Everton have been rumoured, but Arsenal are the new team to come into the fray.

The Daily Mirror are reporting that scouts are keeping an eye on the 24-year old, who will want to pursue a possible England career at some point. With Vito Mannone on loan at Sunderland and Fabianski near the exit door, Wenger is keen to add fresh blood to his squad.

If Arsenal or any other interested club offer a sizable fee around the 5 million plus mark, we would really have to consider it. Feders is still a top keeper at this level or I'm sure we could even negotiate a loan-back clause for Alex until the season's end.

Despite the speculation, I can't see it happening this January. Macca has been in superb form this season, but his distribution is still seriously lacking at the moment, which would and probably will put Arsenal off any deal for the time being.
