'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Watford 0 - 1 Reading

Reading's baron run of five games without a win came to end at Vicarage Road, as Kaspars Gorkss' early header lifted the Royals to seventh place.

It was the best possible start for Adkins' side, who often concede early rather than scoring, so Gorkss' header from Obita's well-delivered corner was a nice surprise. Reading did well in the first period to restrict the home side any clear cut chances.

The second half really brought the best out of our defensive players, as Watford pushed for an equaliser to avoid their first defeat under their new manager. The hosts had a few chances to draw the score level, but failed to test McCarthy enough between the sticks. Merkel was also sent off late on for the Hornets after a late challenge on Nick Blackman.

You could tell from the game that both sides were not playing to their potentials when you look at their respective squads, but either way, it was three points we really had to dig-in for and we would have taken any win at the moment to stop the rot!

Full, detailed match report to follow tomorrow afternoon.
