'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Royals boss frustrated with 'awful goal'

Nigel Adkins was pleased to see his side pick up a point and play some good football against Brighton, but frustrated with the goal we conceded.

The Royals were one down at half time at the Amex yesterday, after a comical own goal from Chris Gunter. However, Brighton were reduced to ten men early in the second half and Royston Drenthe equalised soon after, but couldn't find a winner, despite heavy pressure.

Speaking to the Official Reading FC website, Adkins said: 'We've passed the football, we haven't just got it and shelled it, we've passed the football - which is what I want us to do. The goalkeeper has got man of the match and they've had to pack the defence.'

'It's an awful goal we've gone and given away. We've had enough opportunities to go and win the game. It was a game we were looking to get three points from, but we've come away with one. It's always a difficult place to come to - they're a good side Brighton.'

It really was an awful goal to give away - another individual mistake too, which is becoming an unfortunate trend at the moment. From the sounds of it, we did play good football, but we really couldn't afford to play direct football with Alfie on his own up top.
