Ledge returns in under 21 game

It has been over a year since he has been on the pitch, but Mikele Leigertwood is finally back on the turf.

The 31-year old played 45 minutes for the under 21 side in their 1-1 draw with Sunderland, with Gozie Ugwu scoring the goals for the Royals. Ledge got through the first half unscathed and will hopefully get an hour under his belt next week to continue his progress.

Wayne Bridge wasn't involved in the game, but unlike Ledge, had a pre-season under his belt, so may be wiling to risk the former England international. Adkins revealed that he considering using Bridge on the bench against Huddersfield, but opted against it.

It's nice to see Ledge back on the turf and although he had his critics last season, his experience at this level is invaluable. We could see him back in the squad within the next few weeks and could play a crucial role in our play-off push in late April.
