'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Winger calls on fans for final push

Garath McCleary has openly praised us fans for our support and asks for it continue, as we look to gain a play-off spot.

The atmosphere at the Madejski Stadium on Tuesday night against Middlesbrough was the best it had been in a long time, most probably because it was our first win in eight games there! Despite this, McCleary believes the fans can make the difference in the final two games.

Speaking to the Reading Post, the former Forest winger said: 'I just want to say the fans in the second half on Tuesday were brilliant. Hopefully they can just continue to drive us on. We need them now more than ever and we're all trying to push for the same thing.'

'It's the most I've heard them sing. It was brilliant. I just want them to know that we all appreciate it and that the more they can spur us on, that every little helps. We're all fighting for the cause. We want this just as much as anybody else, in fact we want it more.'

Fans encouraging the players works two ways - they need to give something for us to shout about, which they did the other night and they responded to it. Hopefully a decent travelling support can do that against Donny and a near-full Madejski against Burnley next Saturday!
