'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Jobi reflects on 'unforgettable' Royals tenure

Jobi McAnuff has reflected on his five-seasons at Reading, after it was revealed that his contract would not be extended beyond the end of the season.

The 32-year old had a largely successful time with the Royals, becoming only the second captain in our history to lead us into the Premier League, back in 2012. Jobi made an impressive 206 appearances in all competitions during his five years at the Madejski Stadium, scoring on 16 occasions, under three different managers.

Speaking exclusively to the Reading Post, Jobi said: 'I`m not going to start getting into anything negative towards Reading. I have too much respect for the fans, who have been great to me, and I have so many friends who are still there. It`s one of those things. People have to make these decisions, it`s part of the game.'

'My time at Reading has been fantastic. It`s been a thoroughly enjoyable chapter of my life. I`ve captained the club with massive amounts of pride and enjoyment. I`ve had many great times, the Championship win obviously, and also some bad ones as well. But it`s been a fantastic experience. It`s a time of my career I`ll never forget."

A fantastic servant to the club, maybe it was a shame that he didn't get one more year, although you can see the logic in the decision. The moment I will remember Jobi the most by though was his goal against Cardiff in the play-offs, running past about four players, before near enough guaranteeing a place in the final at Wembley.
