Under 18s finish league campaign

Reading's under 18 success continues, as they finished third in the under 18 Premier League South group, following a 3-2 victory over Stoke.

The ever-improving Harry Cardwell scored two of the goals for David Dodds' side, with Estonian forward Bogdan Vastsuk getting the other. It means the Royals have finished above established sides like Chelsea, Arsenal and Fulham, emphasising their achievement this season.

It has been a great season overall for the youngsters, as they valiantly went out in the semi-final stage of the FA Youth Cup, eventually being beaten by Fulham in the last minute. This was also backed up with success from the under 21s, who won the Premier League Cup.

While it may have been a disappointing season for the first team, the progress from both the under 18s and 21s should create cause for optimism. Hopefully some of those young lads can make the step up to the first team within a few season, maybe even next season?
