'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Obita recalls final-day events

It was a painful weekend last week with the final-day disappointment and Jordan Obita has recalled the last minute events from Saturday.

The 20-year old was voted the Royals player of the season and deservedly so too, as the academy graduate has established himself as a key first team member. Last week's disappointment left everyone involved understandably frustrated and thinking 'what if', but Obita says the team will be raring to go one better in the next campaign.

Quoted by the Reading Chronicle, Obita said: "When we found out Brighton had scored it killed us. We had planned our season to finish in the top two or at least the play-offs but it hasn`t happened. It`s heartbreaking when it does go down to the final day but we`ve got to be positive and make sure we get promotion next season.'

'Everyone is really disappointed but we`ve got to build on this next season and get into the Premier League. Now we`ve got to make sure that next year we either go up as champions or in the play-off final at Wembley. If you look back you could say our away form at the start at the season wasn`t great and nor was our home form.'

The last time we missed out on the final game (Play-off final, 2011), we were promoted the following season, so let's hope the players use this final-day disappointment in the same manner. On the topic of Obita, we need to start building a team around him and the likes of Gunter, Williams, Guthrie, and McCleary, all of whom we will hopefully keep.
