Free transfer targets - Part 4

Free transfer targets - Part 4

Vital Reading looks at some potential free transfer targets for the Royals this summer. This time, we look at potential midfielders to bring in, with our lacking of a number ten-style player meaning several player were tried out their last season, but never cracked it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Steve Sidwell - Recently released by Fulham - I know he is not really a number ten and he will probably end up being back in the Premier League, but how good would it be to get him back?! Since leaving us, he struggled to settle in at Chelsea or Villa, but despite seemingly finding form with Fulham, was released last month. A midfield including Sidwell, Williams and Guthrie is an exciting prospect, but unfortunately an unlikely one.

Jack Collison - Recently released by West Ham - The 25-year old was released by the Hammers last month, after failing to nail down a regular spot in his seven seasons there. He had a reasonably successful loan spell with Wigan at the end of the season, proving that he may need to drop down a level to recover his career which promised lots of potential a few years back. Collison is a Welsh international too, able on playing on either wing, with a good creative spark.

Andrea Orlandi - Recently released by Brighton - Adkins has also made it clear he wants to play fluid and passing football here, but has never really had the players - considering this man has Barcelona, Swansea and Brighton on his CV, he wouldn't be a bad shout. Orlandi only made 14 appearances for Brighton last year, but has already made it clear he wants to remain in England again. At 29, he could still have something to offer.

Robert Koren - Recently released by Hull - A player we have been linked with a fair bit in recent years, but is now reaching the age of 34, so is getting on slightly. However, the former Slovenia captain has plenty of experience at the top level and the Championship too, so could still prove to be a crucial asset in his advancing years.

Who Will Reading Face In 2016/17 (3/5/16)

With less than a handful of games remaining in the 2015/16 campaign, some promotions and relegations in the football pyramid are already known.

Reading outclassed by Preston

Reading's last home game of the season ended with defeat and made it 3 home defeats in a row.

Preston came to the Mad Stad and simply were the better side and should've won by more.
