Owner reveals Dolan enquiry

Massimo Cellino has revealed that he has approach Reading over Eamonn Dolan, but is stalling due to the compensation price asked by the Royals.

The newly-appointed owner has been searching for a replacement for Brian McDermott, who left the club last month. Our academy manager Eamonn Dolan is Cellino's number one target, but has been told by the club that he will need to pay hefty compensation for his services.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the Italian owner revealed the enquiry by saying: 'You expect that a first-team coach will be under contract but I didn`t expect that an under-21 coach would cost a lot of money to take. In Italy things are different.

'I`m learning about the English game still. The money is something you have to think about. This coach, I enquired about him but we will see. I`m back in England this week and before choosing a coach, I had to close the sale of Cagliari. That is done now."

Dolan is still the overwhelming favourite to take the job, but it will all come down to how much Cellino values Dolan. The reported figure is 400,000, which doesn't seem too much, but considering Cellino wants to improve the playing squad, will certainly affect his thinking.
