Scot Starlet Visits Reading

Reading have taken Hamilton Academical starlet, James McCarthy, to the club on a visiting trip.

The highly rated youngster will be at the club for a couple of days to see how things work at the Madejski Stadium and train with the team.

Reading will hope to sign the player on a scholarship deal, should McCarthy enjoy his time at Reading and like what he sees at the club.

But Reading are not the only club interested in McCarthy, the 16 year-old was recently on a trial at Liverpool and after the successful affair he has been offered a place there.

Hamilton manager, Billy Reid said:
'From what I believe Liverpool have tabled an offer for Jamie. Jamie showed up well down there and they made an offer for him.
'However, nothing has been agreed and nothing is set in stone. We will see what develops.'

McCarthy became his club`s youngest player to score for the club in the Scottish Cup, netting a consolation goal in Hamilton`s 4-2 outting to Livingston.
