Soares` And Halford`s Reading Rumour

Reading are interested in Crystal Palace midfielder Tom Soares. The 20 year-old Eagle has been alleged recently to have put in a transfer request.

Reading`s manager Steve Coppell has been reported to be tracking the youngster since last season and in light of news that Soares wants a transfer, Coppell is now ready to make a move.

But Palace boss Peter Taylor has laughed off the suggestion that Soares wants to leave the club:

'I'm staggered to hear about reports that Tom Soares has put in a transfer request.

Soares apparent request has come after he has missed out on starting places in any of the Eagles last three matches. Taylor explained why he has left Soares out of his team:

'It is absolute rubbish. Tom has been left out because I think he is a lot better than he has shown for us recently.

Meanwhile Reading will soon make an offer of one and a half million for Colchester, Greg Halford, if reports are to be believed.

The offer will come despite the Colchester management team`s announcement that Halford will not leave the club for anything less then 4million.

But with Halford out of contract at the end of the season and unlikely to sign a new one, Colchester may have to bite the bullet and cash in on the player while they still can.

Sheffield United are also chasing the players signature.
