Bacuna getting closer, but Baker less likely

Bacuna getting closer, but Baker less likely

It seems we are getting closer to a transfer target, but there's also one which seems to be slipping through our fingers.

It seems that our previous transfer target, Leandro Bacuna, could well be making the move to Berkshire now. We had a transfer bid rejected by Villa for the 25-year old a couple of weeks ago, believed to be just over £1 million, which seemed to end our interest in the versatile player according to Sky Sports.

However, after Bacuna received a shaky reception from Villa fans on Saturday against Hull, it seems the player is going to force a move away. He was left out of the squad yesterday as Steve Bruce revealed to Sky Sports an unnamed Championship club was in talks, and that is most likely going to be us!

Lewis Baker is a rumour that has been floating about for some time now, amid a possible loan bid. It seems he was previously favourite to come here, however late interest from Middlesbrough could have his destination up north according to the Northern Echo. However, some reports says it's not as clear cut yet.

Both would be very welcome additions to the squad and would add some needed quality through the middle and out wide. However, the issue of a striker still persists and despite some murmurings about Oliveira, this still has to be the priority. Watch this space, but we need signings.
