Player Ratings - Wolves (H)

Player Ratings - Wolves (H)

As we were unlucky not to walk away with anything from the Wolves game on Saturday, we take a look at the players' performances from the 2-0 defeat.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Vito Mannone - 6 - Couldn't do much about either goal and apart from that, had hardly anything to do. On a side note, he commanded his area well.

Chris Gunter - 6 - The Welshman did a solid job on both sides at full back and dealt fine with the flair of Wolves' forward players, but ultimately couldn't help us out in our attacking third.

Tiagi Illori - 6 - Stam hauled him off after 30 minutes for what he believed was an 'out of sorts' performance, but I didn't think he was that bad. He should have followed his man for the goal, but slightly harsh to drag him off when he did.

Paul McShane - 6 - There was the odd showing of the skipper struggling with the pace of the Wolves front line, but on the whole he was solid.

Liam Moore - 6 - Another typically solid game from the fans favourite, but sold himself too easily for the second goal.

Leandro Bacuna - 6 - I'm still not sure the wing-back role is for him. He can offer good deliveries out wide, but the defensive side of his game can be worked on. Would have preferred him pushed into midfield with Richards on the left side.

Joey van den Berg - 6 - It was a quiet game for Joey in that he didn't do much right and that he didn't do much wrong. He dropped into the back three after the Ilori substitution and was rarely troubled there.

John Swift - 7 - I know he had a few slack touches, but if we were going to get back into the game, it was going to come through him. He looked lively from the off, hitting the post and looked a threat all afternoon. He is looking like he is becoming back to his best.

Roy Beerens - 5 - It certainly wasn't the worst game he has had, but again, didn't really do anything of any note. Still slow and lazy in the challenge, amazed he was brought off by Stam.

Modou Barrow - 6 - Like Swifty, he was our best attacking outlet, as the Wolves backline didn't enjoy his pace and directness. Struggled to get into the second half with Wolves playing much deeper, but should have scored, even if it was a world class save from Ruddy.

Yann Kermorgant - 6 - What a great sight to see Yann back starting and get over an hour under his belt. He showed the odd moment of class that he has, but you can tell he is still not 100% yet, once he is fit and playing with Aluko and Barrow, we could have a proper strikeforce on our hands.

-------------------------SUBSTITUTES-------------------------

Dave Edwards - 6 - He kept the ball ticking in midfield and used his aerial presence effectively in the defensive third, but isn't the type of midfielder to change a game.

Sone Aluko - 7 - Didn't start because of a knock he picked up against Derby, but when he came on, he looked a real threat. Constantly ran at Wolves with his trickery and pace.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson - N/A - Didn't really have long enough to make an impact. Had a half chance late on which he should have taken off McShane.
