Instant Reactions - Burton v Reading (30/1/18)

Following yesterday's clash between Burton Albion and Reading, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Burton Albion hosted Reading at the Pirelli Stadium for a 7.45pm kick off on Tuesday January 30, with the visitors taking a three one victory.

Reading took the lead through Jon Dadi Bodvarsson 20 minutes into the game, and although Burton drew level with a Lucas Akins penalty in the 51st minute, Reading retook the advantage six minutes later as Chris Gunter found the net. Bodvarsson completed his brace with just over 20 minutes to play in the game.

Bywater, McFadzean, Buxton, Turner, Brayford, Naylor, Murphy, Samuelsen (Sordell 77), Flanagan, Akins, Bent (Akpan 64).

Allen, Dyer, Campbell, Sbarra, Boyce.

Mannone, Ilori, Moore, Gunter, Bacuna, Edwards, Aluko (Elphick 57), van den Berg (Evans 81), Barrow, Kermorgant, Bodvarsson.

McCleary, Clement, Blackett, Jaakkola, Smith.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Robert Jones blew the final whistle, Burton manager Nigel Clough explained.

'We can't keep the ball out of our net, which has been the same reason for all of our defeats. We couldn't keep the ball on the edge of our penalty area for the first goal, Lucas Akins could have done his job on the edge of the penalty area for the second one. The discussions with the players have been brief. It's simple: don't do your jobs and we lose football matches.'

Reading manager Jaap Stam in his comparative interview explained.

'Everybody knew what we needed to do tonight, which wasn't easy against a team who needed the points as well. I think we did well throughout the team, we played well and created opportunities, scoring a couple of good goals. We knew in this game we needed to bring a certain level of physicality and we did, which was quite important.'
