After being linked to Celtic last weekend the enigmatic midfielder is now being linked with a move to Glasgow rival Rangers, according to the Daily Mirror.
Apparently Rangers boss Walter Smith sent his No.2 Ally McCoist to watch Sidwell in last Saturday`s defeat at the Riverside.
According to the article Celtic are already in talks to land Sidwell being a club outside of England - and Rangers are ready to match their Galsgow rivals offer of £35,000 a week in exchange for Sidwell`s signature.
If this is true I suppose we can expect to say cheerio to the midfield workhorse as £35K a week is way out of Reading league in terms of keeping hold of Siddy.
But how much of this is true is anyones guess… Sidwell is also linked with Chelsea who would trump anyones personal terms offers but it begs the question how much is Sidwell willing to be paid to not play?
Manchester City and Boro are also interested in the midfielder but Reading are desperate to hold on to the man who has been a solid backbone to the side since joining in the 2002-03 season.
If rumours of the Scottish giants being interested in Sidwell are true, I think he may opt for them. A place in the Rangers or Celtic line-up is almost certain and there is the benefit of European football, a hefty wage package and big crowds to tempt him.
However on the downside Glasgow is a long way from his London roots and with a young family Sidwell may choose somewhere more close to home. We`ll just have to wait and see though…
