Federici Signs A New Deal

Reading have secured the services of Adam Federici for a further two years after the Australian goalkeeper put pen to paper on a new deal.

The 22-year-old stopper has proved his worth in the cup games he has featured with for Reading this year and has been rewarded with a contract extension until 2009.

Federici has been promoted to Reading`s No2 choice goalkeeper in the absence of Graham Stack, and the Aussie has proved more then capable of retaining the title should Stack return from his loan spell at Leeds.

The Reading director of football Nick Hammond commented on Adam`s new contract: 'Adam has worked extremely hard over the last couple of years and has thoroughly earned this opportunity.

'There's no doubt that he has a lot of potential and now he needs to take the next step and realise that potential."

In the near future I would like to see Adam pushing for a first team spot as he is obviously a very talented goalkeeper; Steve Coppell has given his seal of approval to Federici dubbing him 'Austaralia`s next number one`.

Well done, A Fed. He's worked hard and has come a distance since kipping on Sonko's sofa a few years back! I expect him to challenge Hahnemann next season, and hopefully that'll improve both their games.
