Kevin Doyle Makes The Cut

Kevin Doyle has made the shortlist for PFA Young Player Of The Year.

The Reading striker, 23, who has scored 10 goals in the league this season, has been a pivotal tool in Reading`s 06/07 success story.

The fantastical tale of Doyle`s emergence from the Irish League and his rise to Premiership stardom have made him a figure very much reported about in the media this season.

When Doyle was at his goalscoring peak this season, The Sun matched him up against the 30M striker, Andriy Shevchenko, comparing the goals per pound each had scored - Doyle having joined the Royals at a snip for 78K.

Doyle will be up against stiff competition for the prestigious award however, with Man Utd`s Ronaldo, 22, Arsenal`s Cesc Fabregas, 19, also in the hunt for the award.

United`s Wayne Rooney, 21, will be looking for a hat-trick, having won the honour the two previous seasons while Tottenham winger Aaron Lennon, 19, and 18-year-old Man City defender Micah Richards, make up the other candidates.

Voting is carried out by the Premiership`s players themselves and with that already finished; the winner will be revealed on Sunday night after a gala dinner.

Good luck, Kev!!!
