The first weekend of the EPL has finally come and gone, and what a start it was!

Penalties, injuries, goals, saves and a couple of ordinary mistakes all formed part of the 1st weekend action.

A spirited Villa went down against Liverpool. Laursen opened the scoring with a strike that thudded into his own net. Liverpool controlled most of the game, but a hand ball call allowed Gareth Barry to slot home a penalty and draw the game level. With 5 minutes to go Liverpool were awarded a penalty and Steven Gerrard scored a free kick worthy of goal of the season.

The biggest upset of the game was Manchester United's goalless draw with Reading, and even if it was not the score line that left most fantasy managers pulling their hair out it was the injury sustained by United striker Wayne Rooney that has caused most players to eagerly await the 4th of September so they can make that all important change to their team.

There were a couple of strong performances to mark the weekend as well. Fantasy managers wily enough to select Andy Todd from Derby would have notched up 8 points for a defender after his goal against Portsmouth. Hleb, Kapo, Malouda, Osman and Gerrard top scored for the midfielders getting 8 points apiece, and the striker to be crowned top point scorer for the first round of the EPL was Obafemi Martins of Newcastle who hit the net twice against Bolton.

Tonight there are another six games that will affect the Vital Fantasy Football scoreboards, so be sure to check up on your scores!

Congrats on your loss, and I for one hope you get relegated, not cause of your Club or your fans, simply cause of Hunt. we all loathe him. useless fecker.
