Applause will Honour Porterfield

It has been agreed that Ian Porterfield, who sadly passed away on Tuesday will be marked at this weekends Reading match with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light by a minutes applause.

Porterfield who is a Sunderland legend, also played for and managed Reading for a brief spell, so to show their respect to the man who lost his fight to Colon Cancer this week in addition to the applause both sides will wear black armbands.

A book of condolence has been opened by Sunderland, it can be signed here

It was a real shame to lose such a fine man, again my condolences go to his family. He will be honoured in a brilliant way this weekend.

Without doubt merlin, this I can agree with you on, even if I might not everything you say. Such a sad loss for football, but most importantly his family.
