Reading Return Ruled out for Sidwell

Reading have been linked in the media with a move to bring Steve Sidwell back to the Madejski Stadium on loan in January, but Steve Coppell has ruled this out.

"It was a question after the game on Saturday just in reference to the number of games Siddy has played at Chelsea," Coppell told Sky Sports News.

"Undoubtedly, if he had still been here he would have played almost every game, fitness allowing.

"I just think it was a bit of a jokey question along those lines. Realistically, he's made a decision and has made a commitment to get into the team at Chelsea, and I've got every confidence that in time he will do."

Sidwell has found it hard to command a place in the Chelsea side, as you would expect but Coppell expects him to carry on fighting for his place. He also does not think that Sidwell will be regretting his move at all, "You make decisions, and he made his decision. He wanted to test himself right at the right very top and he was given the opportunity," Coppell also told Sky Sports News.

"With all due respect, he'd be a fool to turn that opportunity down.

"He wants to see how far he can push himself. He will only do that by trying, and he's gone and tried."

It will be increasingly hard for Sidwell to break into the Chelsea side, especially with Jose Mourinho, the man who took him to Chelsea having now departed, but he will battle on.

No one could blame Sidwell for moving to Chelsea, I wished him well when he went, but knew his chances would be limited. He will keep fighting for a place, but will do well to play that many games this season.

He should never have left, it's his own fault that he isn't playing much. Yes you can talk about it being to good a move to refuse, but I would rather play myself.

Don't sit on the fence will you :) I see what you are saying but I still don't blame him, who could, apart from you.

Still say he should never have left, but he scored a belter for Chelsea against Hull last night didn't he.
