Sonko Won't be Rushed (Coppell)
Ibrahima Sonko may be getting closer to a return to the Reading first team but Steve Coppell insists that he will not rush him back into the team.
Off the back of a further seven goals conceded in the 7-4 defeat at Fratton Park against Portsmouth last Saturday some have called for Sonko to get back in as soon as possible, even more so after he came through 90 minutes of a reserve match on Monday, but as Steve Coppell told readingfc.co.uk he will not rush Sonko back too soon, "I drove up to Derby on Monday to see the reserves, we played well. We should have won the game.
"Sonko got 90 minutes his first competitive 90 minutes.
"He was up against Robert Earnshaw and Jon Macken, millions of pounds worth of striker, and he and Alex Pearce did a really good job.
"He looked tired in the dressing room afterwards, a bit weary but he's on course, that's all you can say. Would I feel comfortable playing him at the weekend? Probably not."
After this weekend we then have an international break, so if he doesn't feature, as looks like being the case he will have more than a week to get further reserve fixtures under his belt, with more time to get his fitness levels right.
