If James Harper ever offers to cook you anything make sure you decline, as his own cooking prior to the Derby match gave him a case of the trots, and this could have seen him miss the match, or at least come off.
Maybe not the ideal preparations for a Premier League footballer, many would say, but James Harper treats himself to a pre-match fry-up before each game. This time, without time to go out for this meal he had to cook it himself, and he soon wished he hadn't bothered as he told the Daily Mirror, "I have a fry up before every game. I usually got to Sainsbury's or ASDA but on Sunday I did one for myself. But I did not cook the sausages enough and I had the s***s and felt sick."
Although it was a challenge to get through the match, he did manage it, just, "I thought I was going to die and could not even run," James Harper also told the Daily Mirror.
"I thought I'd have to come off at half-time, but in the second half I started to feel better.
"I had to go home and cook more sausages just to prove I could do it right."
"I used to have porridge before a games but now I have bacon, eggs and sausages - a mega breakfast. People say it is not good preparation, but I feel great on it."
Well clearly that time he did not though.
I'm surprised that a professional football would prepare by eating thing like this, but whatever makes you tick I suppose, and it works for him, apart from this one time.
