Burnley vs. Reading

Turf Moor

Saturday 5th October 2013

3.00pm KO

Burnley (A) Match Preview

Following a rather disappointing draw with Barnsley on Tuesday night, it certainly doesn't get any easier for the Royals, who now have Championship leaders and surprise package Burnley at Turf Moor. Sean Dyche's side have only lost once this season and are the second highest scorers, despite losing Charlie Austin in the summer. Nigel Adkins' away record in the Championship is impressive, but the Clarets are yet to lose at home this season.

Vital Quotes:

Reading manager Nigel Adkins - 'Great credit to Sean in what he`s gone and done there. He is someone that I know, he`s done a great job and was very unfortunate when he lost his job at Watford because he was doing great things there. He`s rejuvenated and galvanised Burnley Football Club. The way they`re playing football is great.'

Burnley striker Danny Ings on his England under 21 call up - "I am over the moon at the call-up and it`s a dream come true for me, especially after the two years I have had. I am honoured to be selected in such an elite group of players. It`s a crazy time for me and I didn`t expect it, even though I have been scoring goals. But as I said, I am chuffed and I`ve had a lot of nice tweets and messages from Burnley fans, which is appreciated."

Burnley Team News:

Burnley could welcome back midfielder Dean Marney from suspension, missing their victory over Doncaster. Ross Wallace is a doubt for Sean Dyche, who has a largely fully fit squad.

Player to watch: Sam Vokes

The Welsh international has struggled to earn regular first team football during his career, but seems to have found a home at Burnley. He is currently on seven goals this season and will want to add to his tally.

Reading Team News:

Reading will give late fitness tests to the duo of Danny Williams and Royston Drenthe, who have missed the last three games. Defender Wayne Bridge is likely to return, after missing the midweek game with Barnsley. Midfielder Jem Karacan is a long-term injury problem, while Mikele Leigertwood is still not match fit.

Player to watch: Hal Robson-Kanu

The winger scored his first goal of the season against Barnsley and will want to build on this tally. It's fair to say that the Welsh international hasn't hit the heights yet this season, after a good campaign last year, so he will want to prove his worth to keep his spot in the side.

Expected line-ups:

Burnley - 4-4-2: Heaton, Trippier, Duff, Shackell, Mee, Arfield, Marney, Jones, Kightly, Vokes, Ings

Reading - 4-3-3: McCarthy, Gunter, Pearce, Morrison, Bridge, Baird, Guthrie, Williams, Robson-Kanu, McCleary, Pogrebnyak

Ref Watch:

The referee for this game will be Michael Jones.

Match Prediction:

Since our play off battering by Burnley, we have had a decent record against them in the league. However, the Clarets are breezing with confidence at the moment, but some are arguing whether this run will keep going - will the Royals be the team to end it? I doubt it at the moment.

Vital Reading prediction: Burnley 1 - 1 Reading
