Reading 2 - Everton 1

Madejski Stadium

17th November 2012

Attendance: 24,184 (2,182 away)

Eleventh heaven as Royals winless run ends

Reading picked up their first Premier League victory of the season, as they beat high-flying Everton 2-1 at the Madejski Stadium.

The first half was dominated by the away side and deservedly look the lead through Steven Naismith, after the Reading defence comically failed to clear the ball. However, in the second period, McDermott's side were a much improved outfit and found a lifeline, after Nicky Shorey's free kick was headed home by Adam Le Fondre.

The Royals continued to push for the second and got their rewards as the clinical Le Fondre won and scored the penalty kick, after a needless foul from Seamus Coleman. Everton hit the post minutes later, but Reading saw the game out for their first victory of the season and takes them out of the relegation zone.

Star Player

Adam Federici - could have easily gone to Morrison or Tabb, but the importance of the Australian's performance was overlooked. Made some crucial saves at 1-0 and 1-1 that kept us in the game, you'd think his confidence is back now.
